Dimetcote Inorganic Zinc Primers Ameron Dimetcote Primers are sacrificial to carbon steel and are applied when the best corrosion protection is required for the protection of carbon steel. Dimetcote primers are available in both waterbased formulations and low VOC solvented formulations. All Dimetcote primers require an abrasive blast surface preparation in order to adhere to the carbon steel substrate. Dimetcote 9H is an ethyl-silicate inorganic zinc that is very easy to apply. Dimetcote 9H is the newest version of the Dimetcote 9 technology. See the Dimetcote 9H data sheet for thinning and application instructions. Dimetcote 21-5 is a waterbased inorganic zinc developed in the late 1980s as a performance equivalent to Dimetcote 9 that could be applied in dry environments such as southern California. Dimetcote 21-5 is popular in southern California and the desert southwest not only to its easy application in low humidity, but also its zero VOC. Please see the Dimetcote 21-5 application instructions.
